UP man shocked by ₹99,99,94,95,999.99 credit due to bank software glitch
At Charbagh Railway Station in Lucknow, Balpreet Singh, a 35-year-old man undergoing treatment for depression, lost both his legs while attempting to board the Howrah-bound Punjab Mail on Tuesday near platform number nine.
Balpreet, a resident of Govind Nagar in the Alambagh area, had been receiving treatment at Nur Manzil Psychiatric Centre since the death of his mother, Loveleen Kaur, five years ago. Despite recent signs of mental health improvement, Balpreet met with an unfortunate accident. He was promptly taken to the KGMU trauma center by the GRP team.
Balpreet is unemployed and the family's primary earning source is the rent they received from tenants. A senior railway official said: “The victim attempted to board Howrah bound Punjab Mail from the opposite side of the platform, while the train was leaving the station.”
Sub-Inspector Rashid Ali Khan of GRP Charbagh railway station said: “The victim did look mentally disturbed. Prima facie it appears to be an unfortunate accident in which the victim came under the wheels of the train while attempting to board it.”
